AZ GOLF Foundation Announces Board Of Directors

[Phoenix, Ariz.] September 28, 2026 — The AZ GOLF Foundation is excited to announce the five members who will join President of AZ GOLF, John Souza, and AZ GOLF Executive Director, Catherine Carmignani, on its Board of Directors — Harry Cavanagh Jr, Karie Dozer, Tom Ducey, Jay Pennypacker and Kirk Triplett. Together, the team will serve as volunteer leaders, stewards and ambassadors for the Foundation.

The Board of Directors will work in collaboration with the AZ GOLF Executive Committee and Association staff, helping bring the Foundation’s mission to life of expanding the opportunity for more people to access, experience and thrive in the game of golf across Arizona.

The Board provides strategic guidance and oversight while helping ensure the Foundation remains focused on a meaningful, sustainable, long-term impact.

“We are fortunate to have these leaders step up to serve the AZ GOLF Foundation,” said Carmignani. “Each brings a unique perspective, a true passion for the game and a genuine commitment to the people and communities we serve. Their deep roots in Arizona and in golf will be instrumental as we expand access, create meaningful pathways into the game and invest in its future across the state.”

Harry Cavanagh Jr.

Harry Cavanagh Jr. is a retired anesthesiologist and a Phoenix native. His father introduced him to golf at the age of 10 and he played in many junior golf tournaments, winning the State Junior Championship at age 16. After his medical training in Colorado, Harry returned to Phoenix and has competed in numerous AZ GOLF championships over the past forty years.

Harry has been on the AZ GOLF Executive Committee the past three years and is excited to transition to the AZ GOLF Foundation Board of Directors.

“I have loved the game of golf since childhood and am excited to give back to it,” Cavanagh said. “Golf has introduced me to so many wonderful people and has given me so many great experiences that I am anxious to help grow the game and provide the same opportunity to others that I had. It is truly the game of a lifetime.”

Karie Dozer

Karie Dozer is an independent broadcast professional and communications specialist with more than 30 years of experience in Phoenix media. A graduate of Arizona State University’s Broadcast Journalism program, Karie began her career covering news and sports at KTAR Radio. Today, she connects with audiences through podcasting, live events, voice work and communications consulting.

Karie and her husband, Rich, enjoy playing golf with friends and traveling to play in other parts of the state and around the world whenever possible. Her son played four years in college and the whole family enjoys playing together.

"I am excited to work with the AZ GOLF Foundation to help strengthen the reach of golf in the state,” Dozer said. “I love the game and have gained so much from others while playing with new people and always trying to improve. Golf is a gift, and I want to help share it as widely as possible."

Tom Ducey

Tom Ducey serves as Vice President of Revenue at the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry, where he works to grow and strengthen Arizona’s statewide business community. A graduate of Miami University with a degree in finance, Tom joined the Chamber in 2019 and has held roles spanning government affairs, membership and organizational operations.

An avid golfer, Tom is passionate about expanding access to the game and creating opportunities for more people to experience the community, relationships and lifelong benefits golf provides.

“I’m honored to join the AZ GOLF Foundation Board and give back to a game that has meant a lot to me personally,” Ducey said. “I’m excited to work alongside the Board to expand access to golf and help more Arizonans discover everything the game has to offer.”

Jay Pennypacker

Jay Pennypacker moved to Arizona in 1986 and quickly immersed himself in the game of golf, competing in Junior Golf Association of Arizona tournaments across the state. He continued his golf journey at the University of Arizona and was a member of the 1992 NCAA National Championship team.

After beginning his professional career as a competitive golfer, Jay transitioned into golf management, working at golf facilities throughout Arizona. Today, he is a real estate advisor in Scottsdale where he has been recognized among the Top 100 in the world. He has also been a golf member of The Estancia Club for more than a decade.

Jay is currently completing his term on the Executive Committee of the Arizona Golf Association and looks forward to continuing his service to golf with the Foundation.

"I am truly excited to be a part of the Board of Directors for the AZ GOLF Foundation and look forward to working with some great people to give back to the game of golf," Pennypacker said.

Kirk Triplett

Kirk Triplett has been a tournament golfer since his freshman year of high school. Nearly 50 years later, as he winds down his playing career on the PGA Tour Champions, Kirk can look back fondly on a journey that has taken him to the game’s biggest events, the world’s greatest courses and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Since turning professional in 1985, Kirk has enjoyed a successful career on both the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions, earning three PGA Tour victories and eight PGA Tour Champions victories. Kirk has always believed that when you get the opportunity to make a career out of something you love, you have an obligation to give back.

“I am excited to join the AZ GOLF Foundation Board, and I am looking forward to sharing my experience to help Arizona golfers learn, enjoy, and maybe even compete in the game we all love,” Kirk said.
