SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. – Seville Golf & Country Club in Gilbert will host the 101st Arizona Amateur Championship from August 18-25th, while the 51st Arizona Women’s Amateur Championship will be held at The Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale from July 24-26th.
Seville Golf & Country Club – home to a challenging Gary Panks design featuring an island green 17th hole that can decide a championship -- will serve as a true test in determining the state’s best amateur. Seville is no stranger to hosting major events. In 2024, Hyo Joo Kim captured the LPGA Ford Championship at Seville. Over the years, the course has also hosted several USGA qualifiers and AZ GOLF events.
“We’re honored to host the 101st Arizona Amateur Championship at Seville Golf & Country Club,” said Patrick Connell, general manager of Seville Golf & Country Club. “We’re excited to welcome the state’s top amateur golfers to our course and provide a championship-caliber experience for AZ GOLF's flagship championship."
The 101st Arizona Amateur Championship will be contested over six days; the first two rounds consist of 18-hole stroke play, after which the field is cut to 64 players and shifts to a match play format.
Designed by Randy Heckenkemper, the beauty and strategy of The Champions Course warrants comparisons to its more famous sister course. Because each hole is designed to be played with multiple options, the course can be set up in a variety of ways to challenge players. The Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale has also hosted numerous high-profile events, including the Arizona Mid-Amateur Championship, USGA qualifiers and Epson Tour events.
“The Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale is proud to host the 51st Arizona Women’s Amateur Championship,” said Andrew Yoder, TPC Scottsdale's director of business development. “The talent in Arizona women’s amateur golf is incredible and we look forward to seeing how these elite players take on a layout designed to test every shot in the bag.”
The 51st Women’s Amateur Championship consists of 54 holes of stroke play over three days.
“We’re thrilled to have Seville Golf & Country Club and The Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale hosting our flagship championships,” AZ GOLF Executive Director Catherine Carmignani said. “The leadership at both courses understand the significance of these major events for Arizona’s best amateur players and we appreciate their partnership.”
USGA CHAMPIONSHIP EXEMPTIONS
For the second consecutive year, the winners Arizona’s state amateur championships will earn exemptions into the U.S. Amateur Championship at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif. and Women’s Amateur Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Ore.
