AZ GOLF Thanks Joe Foley for Positive Impact

Foley to Pursue Opportunities Outside of Golf

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. – A bittersweet transition is ahead as Executive Director of the Arizona Golf Association (AZ GOLF), Joe Foley, has decided to move on from his role and pursue other opportunities outside of the golf industry. Foley’s lively two-year stint at AZ GOLF was nothing short of transformative – toppling over 100,000 memberships (in the association’s 100th year), collaborating with other nonprofit organizations to build cohesion and efficiency for the local game, all while introducing a new brand to create a more welcoming environment for golfers of all styles of play, experience, and interest levels.

“Joe has led the AZ GOLF team with extreme poise throughout one of, if not, the most notable golf booms the sport has ever witnessed. I speak on behalf of the entire Executive Committee when I say we are incredibly thankful for his time with us. The health and demand for golf continues to be at an all-time high, and we have great confidence in the broader AZ GOLF team to continue to push forward and provide innovative value to our membership here in Arizona,” explains Tim Brown, President and Chair of the AZ GOLF Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee and Foley are working hand-in-hand to support the leadership transition as the search begins for a new Executive Director. A national search will commence soon with internal and external candidates eligible for consideration. Throughout this recruiting period, Alex Tsakiris (current Assistant Executive Director) and Daniel Shoup (current Head of Finance and Human Resources) will fill the roles of Interim Co-Executive Directors. Tsakiris will oversee all external affairs for the organization while Shoup oversees internal operations.

For more information on Foley’s decision in his own words, you can find his public letter to the golf community (button below).
