SCOTTSDALE, AZ - The 51st Arizona Women’s Amateur Championship was held at TPC Scottsdale’s Champions Course, bringing together a competitive field of top amateur golfers from around the globe. The winner of the Champions Division would earn an automatic exemption into the 2025 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.
Competitors traveled from locations including Australia, Mexico, Hawaii, and several neighboring states to participate in the prestigious event. After the first round, the leaderboard featured a three-way tie at 4-under-par between Alyzzah Vakasiuola, Chloe Jang, and Ashley Shaw. Brooke Seay sat just one stroke behind at 3-under-par.
During the second round, Seay climbed to the top of the leaderboard and held the lead for much of the day. However, a double bogey on the eighth hole caused her to slip to third place by the end of the round coming in at 4-under-par.

Entering the final day, Seay found herself paired with co-leaders Shaw and Alyzzah Vakasiuola. Both Seay and Vakasiuola found the water off the tee on the opening hole and were forced to take a drop, leading to a bogey for Seay and a double bogey for Alyzzah Vakasiuola. When asked post-round what was going through her mind after her tee shot, she shared, “Honestly, I’m not sure. I think I just didn’t set myself up mentally—I just walked up to the tee and I should have started my line a little farther right. It really wasn’t anything else—just a mishit and move on.” The early setback set the tone for a tightly contested and dramatic final round.
Despite the early misstep, Seay displayed resilience and composure, maintaining steady play throughout the day. Meanwhile, Gracie McGovern surged up the leaderboard with a remarkable final-round 66, 5-under-par. Her performance, highlighted by several impressive birdies and a composed par on the 18th hole, earned her a share of the lead.
Seay held her position to force a sudden-death playoff with McGovern. Returning to the 18th tee, Seay delivered under pressure, hitting a strong approach and converting a birdie putt to secure the championship title and claim her exemption into the 2025 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship.
In a post-round interview, Seay shared, “I’m feeling really excited. I wasn’t expecting to play in the Am this year… I had a concussion that took me out of play for a couple of years, and this summer I’ve finally been getting back into competition, so this win means a lot to me.” She attributed her success to recent short-game improvements, adding, “My wedges and my chipping were really good—I’ve been working on those a lot the past few weeks, so it was nice to see that come together.”
The final round of the Championship Division delivered a thrilling finish, with leaderboard shifts, pressure-packed moments, and standout performances that kept the title up for grabs until the very end. Brooke Seay’s poise, consistency, and ability resulted in a hard-fought and well-earned victory.
