Vol. 1 Pilot
Meet the Tee Party
In 2014, Topgolf opened its first Arizona location, just off the 101 and Talking Stick Way. At the time, the Scottsdale location was one of just a few in the nation and introduced Arizonans to a new golf experience. Locals were introduced to a facility with 102 lighted bays, an extensive food menu and bar, but perhaps the most innovative effort, its Toptracer technology.
Fast forward 10 years, and Topgolf has added three more Arizona locations in Gilbert, Tucson and Glendale. If you are ever looking to work on your golf game while traveling, don’t worry, there are locations spanning over 32 states, many of which have multiple facilities. But wait, it gets better. Topgolf has even expanded internationally and has locations in the UK, Australia, China, Colombia, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates.
In recent years, traditional courses saw an opportunity to bring a Topgolf-like experience to their driving ranges. Troon Country Club, Troon North Golf Club, Bellair Golf Park, Longbow Golf Club, Dobson Ranch Golf Course, Greenfield Lakes Golf Course, La Paloma Country Club and Pine Canyon have all implemented Toptracer into their ranges.
The growth of Topgolf and Toptracer can only mean one thing: People are catching the golf bug. As many of us know, it only takes one swing to get someone hooked; many of us remember the first time we hit the ball just right and it made that perfect sound.[BG1] Toptracer is beneficial to golfers actively working on their game, as it gives real-time insight into distances and ball flight that weren’t available at traditional driving ranges.
But Toptracer also appeals to a more casual, golf experience. Let’s take a look at Augusta Ranch Golf Club. This has created a comfortable place for the beginner golfer to practice while still providing value for scratch players. You’ll also find people cracking beers and enjoying time with family and friends and using Toptracer to best their friends in a long drive competition. They’re using golf as a vehicle for fun, rather than the endgame. Whether you are looking for a date night idea, team bonding experience, or just wanting to practice your driving, Toptracer facilities can provide.
At Augusta Ranch, you can get $10 for 50 balls or $20 for 100 balls which is ideal when you want to practice your swing and get instant feedback, or play in an interactive game. What does this all mean for golfers? Well for starters, it means more accessibility. These facilities act as what could probably be classified as a “gateway drug” into the game of golf as it is an easy way to play or practice in a low stake environment.
Especially considering the green fees this time of year, facilities like these create an easy outlet to play in gorgeous weather for a fraction of the cost.
At the Arizona Golf Association, we look to make the game accessible to as many residents as possible. These environments put the pressure away and create a middle ground in the game. With access to interactive games and trace shot distances to improve your game, these facilities provide value to those of all levels.
