2025 Major Tournament Changes
AZ GOLF is excited to share some significant updates regarding the 2025 tournament season, designed to enhance your experience, streamline the registration process and elevate the game for everyone. In collaboration with the Men’s and Women’s Tournaments Committees, we have worked closely together to create unified improvements that reflect a shared commitment to our golf community and improve your experience with us. The following updates will be made effective January 1st, 2025:
- AZ GOLF Men’s and Women’s event schedules will be more aligned moving forward. This has caused a few of our Championships/Events to move from their traditional place on our calendar.
- The registration process will be altered. All events will open for registration 90 days prior to the start. Registration will close 1 week prior to the start of the competition.
- For our Men’s Championships, there will be exemption criteria for each Championship. Exempt players will have first right of refusal and will be eligible to register one week prior to open registration.
- AZ GOLF will be eliminating the Tournament Players Association (TPA) membership moving forward.
- AZ GOLF will be moving to a more concise and transparent process when determining our Player of the Year awards. We have also separated out the Men’s and Women’s POY Charts to help avoid any confusion.
- AZ GOLF will be introducing a “trickle down” points system for the Senior Women’s POY rankings. If you are a Senior Player (ages 50+ for women’s events) competing in the Championship division where there is NO senior age division available in the event, you will earn Senior POY points equal to the number of Open POY points you received (For partner events BOTH players must be 50+ in order to be eligible for trickle down points).
- We are introducing a number of new events beginning in 2025 including but not limited to:
- Arizona Stableford Championship (Men’s Championship)
- Arizona Foursomes Championship (Men’s Championship)
- EmpowHER Classic (Women’s Event)
- Parent/Child Event
Please reach out to our Senior Director of Championships, Logan Rasmussen, with any questions, comments or concerns by emailing logan@azgolf.org. All event and Championship schedules will be released in the coming weeks. Our leadership continues to look forward to another great season of events and we can’t wait to see you on the course again in 2025!
